About this venue
Hohenaschau Castle stands in Aschau im Chiemgau in Bavaria, built as a military stronghold in the last third of the 12th century. Progressively expanded and rebuilt in Renaissance and Baroque styles (1540–1560 and 1672–1686), the castle comprises a Baroque chapel, the Prientalmuseum, and the Laubensaal—a completely frescoed room from 1686/87 decorated with Flora and eternal spring. The castle is accessible by guided tour only, arranged in advance. On the ground floor a small shop offers refreshments and drinks on a panoramic terrace.
