The Allgäuhalle in Kempten is a historic building originally constructed in 1928 by architects Heydecker as a livestock exhibition hall on the city's former cattle market. It primarily served as a venue for trade with breeding cattle, but also hosted sports and mass events within its premises. An important feature is the 2.5-ton bovine figure named "Roman," which was Germany's first livestock sculpture. In 1931, a large barn with a Zollinger roof was added to the southern side, expanding the hall's facilities. During the Second World War, the hall's purpose changed when it was used as an external storage site for Dachau concentration camp, and after 1945, it served as a refugee shelter. Since the 1950s, the structure has been known as the "Allgäuhalle," and it has been protected as a listed building since 2015. The venue is not intended for regular public events but can accommodate larger gatherings with appropriate permissions.
